UK – Gainsborough-based Eminox Ltd is to retrofit emissions control solutions to 205 buses operated by First Group (Scotland) enabling compliance ahead of the introduction of Low Emissions Zones (LEZ) in Edinburgh, Dundee, and Aberdeen between February 2022 and May 2022, and Phase 2 in Glasgow in 2023. (Glasgow City Council introduced Scotland’s first LEZ in 2018 – which currently applies to buses only).

The work has been partially funded through Transport Scotland’s Bus Emission Abatement Retrofit programme (BEAR), which aims to fit buses and coaches with Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS) accredited retrofit technology ahead of the full roll-out of the expanded LEZs in 2022. Over GBP9.75m is being awarded in 2020/21 for Scottish bus and coach operators to retrofit 594 buses and coaches to Euro VI standard, reducing nitrogen dioxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions and improving air quality in Scotland’s largest cities.
