Indian rigid truck sales register sale growth in Q4 2021-22

India - Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t GVW and above) in India experienced a positive growth of 13.8% in Q4 of FY2021-22 to register 76,671 units, up from 67,377 units in same quarter of the year 2020-21. Production of rigid trucks increased by 9.3% to 80,912 units in Q4, up from 74,050 units in Q4 of the previous year. Exports of rigid trucks were also up by 7.5% to 6,964 units.
The lighter medium-duty rigid truck segment (7.5t to 12t GVW) was the worst performing of the rigid market, experiencing a decline in domestic sales of 15.6%, registering 11,208 units in Q4 of FY 2021, down from 13,275 units a year earlier. Exports were up by 6.0% and production decreased by 19.7%.
