USATorc Robotics Inc, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG based in Blacksburg, Virginia, has announced it will partner with logistics firm Schneider National Inc of Green Bay, Wisconsin to pilot a fleet of automated trucks installed with Torc’s Level 4 autonomous driving technology.

Schneider will provide freight loads for Torc’s pilot, which will test driver-supervised autonomous trucks in day-to-day long haul operations next year. The aim of the trials is to develop Torc’s technology into a commercially-viable product which is safe for general use in long-haul trucking. Schneider is a member of the Torc Autonomous Advisory Council, an association of hauliers providing advice and support to Torc in testing and validating its autonomous driving technology.
