Brazil / Chile - Marcopolo SA of Caxais do Sul and Mercedes-Benz do Brasil of Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil have together won an order for 342 new low entry city buses with Metbus, STP Santiago SA and Redbus Urbano SA - three of the largest operators of the Transantiago system in Santiago de Chile.

Two model variants have been ordered - Torino Low Entry Articulated and Torino Low Entry Single – both of which have been tailored to meet their specific applications and are, for the first time in Chile, to be mounted on Euro VI compliant chassis. André Armaganijan, director of Strategy and International Business at Marcopolo, said: “The first 150 units were produced during the month of December at our Ana Rech plant and are being shipped to Chile now.” Armaganijan added this was the first time that Marcopolo had provided buses for these companies and this achievement was seen as a the result of its actions to be closer to its customers, to understand their operational needs and to develop and deliver vehicles suited fully to their applications and requirements.
