The order, which will be fulfilled in three batches, is for 139 twin-axle trailers with box van bodies measuring four metres in height.

The jury praised the concept of the truck, which was first unveiled at the last IAA Transportation event in 2022: originally called ‘eActros Long Haul’, the idea was to develop a truck capable of covering up to 500 kilometres on a single charge.

In addition to Schmitz products, the new warehouse will also store parts for Berger Fahrzeugtechnik, a specialist in lightweight trailers.

The trailers themselves have been designed to carry tyres featuring reinforced internal body walls to prevent bowing under heavy loads.
