Cummins and BAE Systems have been working together to produce and deliver ICE-electric hybrid drivetrain systems since 1994.

The Board of Directors has approved the decision to repurchase USD 20 million of its common stock through a “stock repurchase program”.

Greg Marx, Applications Engineer, Power & Propulsion Solutions at BAE Systems, provided an overview of the evolution of fuel cell architecture in transit buses in North America in a presentation at APTA Expo 2023 held in early October in Orlando, Florida, USA.

The 231-strong order will be delivered to the Canary Islands in batches over the next two years.

Parent group Stellantis North America released details of its model year 2025 ‘Ram’ pickup trucks, including a more powerful Ram 1500 and a new hybrid option. 

The prototype truck is a 560-horsepower plug-in hybrid which pulls an 18-metre trailer installed with solar panels.

The demonstration vehicle achieved 16 miles per gallon fuel efficiency and a 170% improvement in freight efficiency over the 2009 ‘SuperTruck I’ vehicle.

The two five-year contracts stipulate firm orders for six ‘Xcelsior Charge FC’ fuel cell electric buses and twenty ‘Xcelsior Hybrid’ buses, and provide further options for up to 320 buses, half of which would be fuel cell electric and half of them hybrid electric.

With the ‘Karno’ generator installed, Hyliion’s ERX powertrain will now work with a range of different fuel sources, such as hydrogen, propane, and ammonia, as well as conventional fuels.

With the first order expected in Q1 2024, the Urbanway was chosen as part of the 2030 Prague Climate Plan which calls for 75% of the buses in the city to be completely emission-free or low-emission vehicles.

These buses will be delivered in September 2023 and will operate in Germany’s Middle Franconia region.

“Overall, Hyliion remains on schedule to start Hypertruck ERX system production in late 2023,” was one of the main statements in the executive summary for the financial year ending December 2022 at alternative drivetrain supplier startup, Hyliion Holdings Corp of Cedar Park Texas.
