Brazil - Next month (February 2019) sees Scania do Brasil Ltda start production of its new generation truck range at its plant in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), which is approximately two years after launching the new models in Europe. The plant, which was shut down in late December to orchestrate the model changeover during January has received investments totalling BRA2.6bn (USD700m) since 2016 to prepare the plant for production of the new Scania models. Scania says the new models and engines add some 12,000 new components to the operations in São Bernardo do Campo.

Major investments for the new truck line include a completely new cab production line with complete equipment renovation and installation of 77 robots. The new line also has 14 new suppliers, who received investments in tools provided by Scania. In Tucumán, Argentina, the transmission components factory received contributions to produce new parts for the new automated Opticruise box. The assembly line has been updated / upgraded with the introduction of new machines. Scania plans to begin production gradually from February with technicians that have already been trained on the new trucks using a test assembly line that was set up at the factory previously.
