200 VDL hybrid Citeas for De Lijn features new high-power battery pack

Belgium / The Netherlands - Belgian passenger transport company, De Lijn, has ordered 200 hybrid Citeas from VDL Bus & Coach of Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Deliveries are to commence in the second half of 2020 and the buses are to operate across the Flanders region.

The 200 unit order consists of 80, 12m SLE-120 Hybrid and 120, 18m SLFA-180 Hybrid VDL Citeas. The 12m low-entry bus is driven by a 160kW electric motor and equipped with a 32kWh ‘high-power’ battery pack. The articulated, low-floor bus has a 240kW electric motor combined with a 64kWh ‘high-power’ battery pack. All the hybrid buses are also equipped with a 210kW, 4-cylinder, Euro 6 engine generator for charging the battery.
