UK - Presenting a year-end overview of its performance in the markets of the UK and Ireland, James Charnock, commercial vehicle and services director at Renault Trucks UK, said while political uncertainty surrounding Brexit had driven some pre-buy activity this year, the result had been overall market growth in the medium and heavy-duty (MHD) truck sector with 47,000 registrations at the end of November – up 14% on 2018, exceeding expectations.

He said: “At Renault Trucks, our UK MHD {medium and heavy duty >6t gvw} sales are 18% up year on year, which means we are outpacing an inflated market and looking to finish the year with an increase in market share. We believe this growth is due to the activities we have been working on, an increasing confidence in our products and the excellent back up available from our dealer network. In Ireland, the market has been more stable, however, we increased our market share significantly this year and look to be heading somewhere close to the 12% mark.
