Sweden - The Volvo Group of Gothenburg, Sweden has created a new dedicated business unit for providing autonomous transportation solutions called Volvo Autonomous Solutions; it officially started operations on January 1, 2020.

Martin Lundstedt, president and CEO of the Volvo Group commenting on the new business area, said: “We've decided to create a new business area that is called Volvo Autonomous Solutions because automation, not least for commercial vehicle and industrial machinery applications, offer fantastic opportunities for the customers. Sustainability, safety and productivity working hand in hand. We have already demonstrated that, and often combined it with connectivity and electro-mobility. We feel in order to really leverage of this now, the development, commercialization and scaling up, it is important to have a focused business area with a full-fledged responsibility for this. But we also have the strength of combining that with very global and far reaching business areas, both on the truck side and the construction equipment side, to get the best possible solution.”
