Brazil - Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWCO) of Resende, Rio de Janeiro (a Traton Group company) is celebrating production of more than one million vehicles in Brazil. Of this total, more than 850,000 have been manufactured by the VWCO industrial complex in Resende (RJ), which is celebrating 25 years of operations.

Roberto Cortes, president and CEO of Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus said: “This production record is now the result of our constant efforts since the very beginning of our operations in 1981, but especially since our installation in Resende, which started in 1995 with a laboratory factory. Over the past 25 years, we have continuously invested to guarantee a production process with the latest technology. BRA5.5 billion (USD 1 billion) has been allocated to the company’s growth, with the most recent investment cycle expected to end in 2021 and which has a large part of its resources focused on the launch of the new extra-heavy VW.”
