Germany - At Busworld in October, automotive HVAC supplier, Webasto Group of Stockdorf, premiered its scalable Thermal Management System for electric vehicles. Webasto stated its experience of working as an integral thermal management OE supplier over many decades has enabled it to develop a modular system that provides optimal temperature control for passengers, batteries, drivetrain and electronics in electrical vehicles.

Webasto states its Thermal Management System allows the company to integrate all component parts into one holistic system. This approach uses waste heat recovery principles to supplement cabin heating and heat pump operation, which results in a battery range extension of about 25 per cent. The system comprises Webasto’s proven High-Voltage Heater HVH 100 that operates a constant efficiency of 95%, the Webasto CV Standard Battery (see details below) and the central control unit called Cronus Smart, which controls all system components. This modular system, says Webasto, enables its integration into any vehicle system.
