City of Salvador starts trials of BYD electric and Scania gas-powered buses

Brazil - October saw two BYD electric city buses start research trials in Salvador, Bahia State, Brazil’s oldest city, on a 13.2km route between Pirajá Metro Station and São João Island. These two vehicles are part of pilot project of five vehicles from the BYD do Brasil Ltda of Campinas, São Paulo State and a CNG (compressed natural gas) bus supplied by Scania Brasil Ltda of São Bernardo do Campo, fuelled with biomethane.

BYD’s latest buses in Brazil, are accessible, with air conditioning, and have the capacity to transport 74 people (33 seated and 41 standing). They are powered by BYD’s lithium iron phosphate batteries and has an autonomy of up to 250 kilometres on a single nightly charge.
