BYD do Brasil has launched its newest truck on the Brazilian market, the eT712.220, which has a total gross weight of 12 tons and is equipped with a two-speed transmission integrated into the e-axle.

Electric vehicle maker, BYD Co Ltd of Shenzhen, China, which has been actively working for more than seven years in Brazil demonstrating the benefits of 100% electric vehicles for society and the environment has now achieved sales of more than 50 all-electric vehicles (minibuses and city buses) supplied to different operators and cities in Brazil.

BYD Brasil Ltd, in partnership with body builder, Marcopolo SA, have launched the first intercity electric coach, which went on trial for 90 days in June with transport operator, Expresso Princesa dos Campos.

The city of Ribeirão Preto (SP) has started testing the BYD D9W - 20 410 low-floor chassis fitted with a Caio Millenium body.

BYD and Marcopolo in March announced delivery of the first articulated electric bus to be made in Brazil to the city of São José dos Campos. The vehicle is to be used for city public transport as part of the Linha Verde project.

The new 22m-long electric bus, called the Attivi Express, features the BYD D11B low floor chassis with BYD’s latest lithium iron phosphate battery technology.

The Campione Invictus 1200 body, produced by Comil on the BYD D9F 4x2 chassis, has been developed for operations of short and medium distances for public and charter services such as city commuter services and intercity transfers.

October saw two BYD electric city buses start research trials in Salvador, Bahia State, Brazil’s oldest city, on a 13.2km route between Pirajá Metro Station and São João Island.
