Rigid truck sales register 17.6% growth in India

India - Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in October to December or Q3 of FY2021-22 in India grew by 17.6% to register 53,450 units, up from 45,432 units in same quarter of the previous fiscal year. Tata and Eicher dominate in this segment. Exports of rigid truck increased substantially during the same quarter period in FY 2021/22 increasing by 75.1% to 6,951 units as compared with  3,970 units in the same quarter of the previous year. Production of the rigid trucks increased commensuarately by 23.2% to 62,795 units in Q3 of FY 2021-22 from 50,973 units in Q3:2020/21. 

Sales of medium-duty rigid trucks (7.5t to 12 tons) rose by 13.2% to register 10,466 units in Q3 of FY 2021/22 from 9,247 units in Q3 of FY 2020/21. Export sales increased by 40.7% to exceed 2,000 units, while production increased in response to domestic and overseas gains by 11.7%.
