Wright Group reports solid results as it makes major investments for the future

UK - Wrights Group Ltd of Ballymena has reported a group turnover of GBP227,157,000 (GBP227m) for the year ending December 2017 (2016: GBP264m) and profit (before tax) of GBP1.5m (2016: GBP10m). It reported its bus building business, Wrightbus Ltd contributed GBP181.3m (2016: GBP214.6m) or nearly 80% of turnover across the group in 2017; it also delivered a profit before tax of GBP5,020,000 (2016: GBP6.08m).
Kirsty McBride, group finance director, said: “Our 2017 results have to be seen in the context of challenges in both the UK and our overseas markets. We experienced a change in the mix in our UK business in 2017, with significant one-off costs in our overseas subsidiaries, coupled with the completion of the primary revenue generating contract in Singapore.
