Automaker looks to strengthen its lead in US hydrogen fuel cell truck business.

The two companies announced they would work together to develop a 4x2 prototype heavy truck with a fuel cell driveline supplied by Symbio.

The hope is that these autonomous operations will stimulate the further expansion of fuel infrastructure for hydrogen trucks, producing a “self-reinforcing cycle of vehicle adoption, infrastructure development, and lower operational costs per unit”.

These tests are designed to ensure the vehicle meets the durability standards of conventional diesel trucks, aiming for 1.2 million kilometres of operation over ten years.

As part of the H2Haul project aimed at demonstrating the viability of hydrogen-powered trucks for long-haul transport,  Iveco delivered two S-eWay Fuel-Cell trucks to the BMW plant in Leipzig.

The Northern Irish bus manufacturer announced its re-entry into the British coach market with the launch of a new diesel model and the promised launch of a fuel cell electric variant in the near future.
