The Netherlands / China - Alliance Ventures1, the strategic venture capital arm of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi consortium, has made an undisclosed investment in PowerShare, an electric vehicle (EV) charging platform start-up company based in China. Existing investors in the company include BP and Detong Capital.

PowerShare provides an online platform connecting EV drivers, charge point operators and power suppliers to co-ordinate charging requirements with supply. It offers a cloud-based system enabling suppliers to monitor the demand from vehicles with the supply capacity of the grid, so allowing drivers to find available charging stations. Alliance Ventures says it believes PowerShare is on the cutting edge of next-generation systems for the automotive industry.
