Germany - Semi-trailer manufacturer, Kögel Trailer GmbH & Co KG, a subsidiary of the Humbaur Group, based in Burtenbach, Germany, used Transpotec 2019 to launch its very latest version of its lightweight triple extendible container semi-trailer chassis – Port 45 Triplex. This new trailer model was first introduced at the IAA in Hannover in September last year.

The Port Triplex weighs just 4,450kg in its basic form, with a technical gross tare weight of 41,000kg - which allows payloads of over 36,550kg and a fifth-wheel load of 14,000kg - the container chassis is suitable for transporting 2x20ft, 30ft, 40ft and 45ft ISO containers as well as 40ft and 45ft' Highcube containers. It is extended in the middle using the tractor unit and at the front and rear mechanically – the latter is by use of a manually operated hand crank. It featured Alcoa wheels and SAF-Holland axles with rear steer, although Kögel plans to make it available also with BPW and its own KTA steer-axle later this year.
