SwedenNobina AB of Stockholm, Sweden, Scandinavia’s largest public transport operator, and truck and bus builder, Scania AB of Södertaälje, are collaborating to start trials of autonomous buses on regular bus routes in the Stockholm area from 2020.

Karin Rådström, Head of Buses and Coaches, Scania, remarked: “The technology is now sufficiently mature to initiate trials in actual bus operations on public roads, making the project one of the first of its kind in Europe with buses this size. The project,” Rådström continued, “will provide a wealth of information in the further development of large autonomous buses before full-scale introduction.”
