Volvo 7900e becomes Ireland's first electric bus

Ireland / UK / SwedenVolvo Buses UK Ltd of Warwick, UK – a subsidiary of Volvo Buses -  has been awarded a contract to supply Ireland’s first electric bus: The Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport Hotel, part of the Tifco Hotel Group, and energy supplier, ESB, have awarded Volvo a contract to supply a single-deck electric 12m Volvo 7900e bus for the city of Dublin. The electric bus is scheduled to begin operation later this year and is to provide emission-free transfer services for passengers between the Crowne Plaza hotel, the Holiday Express Inn and Dublin Airport's terminals.

The Volvo 7900e is Volvo’s fully-built generation 2 single deck city bus, which employs high power CCS combo 2 150kW plug-in charging. It has 200kW battery capacity and will be recharged at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
