Volvo Buses delivers first autonomous electric bus to Nanyang Technological University

Sweden / Singapore - Volvo Bus Corporation of Gothenburg has delivered the first 12m fully autonomous electric buses to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore where it it is to enter an R&D programme for autonomous electric buses. The programme is part of the Land Transport Authority of Singapore's drive to develop future sustainable public transport.

The 12m Volvo 7900 electric bus was selected as the basis for the development and is equipped with autonomous driving technologies, including GPS and LIDAR laser technology systems for charting, positioning and detecting obstacles around the vehicle.
