Russia – The Gorky Auto Plant of GAZ Group in Nizhny Novgorod has begun commercial production of the new GAZelle NEXT 4.6 vans with an extended wheelbase. Compared with the standard model the body of the new vehicle has been increased by 15% from 13.5 to 15.5 cubic meters and the floor area of the loaded space by 20% from 6.8 to 8.1 square meters. The payload has been almost doubled to two tonnes. With its new model GAZ is entering the HVAN (heavy van) segment for the first time. Previously only vehicles of foreign manufacturer models like the Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Iveco Daily, were present in this segment.

Simultaneously, the Gorky Auto Plant has also started producing a new minibus model.  Thanks to the extended payload and body length its capacity has been increased from 17 to 22 passengers (19 seats and 3 standing places) without a change in the distance between seats.
