Brazil - Mercedes-Benz do Brasil has announced it has completed a BRA100m renovation of its cab assembly line in São Bernardo do Campo (SP) with expectations in efficiency gains of up to 15% and gains in terms of its logistical operations of some 20%. This modernization of its cab line forms part of its previously announced investment programme totalling BRA2.4bn that began last year and is expected to continue until 2022.

The new cab assembly line, which reopened in January, has an additional 170 people who operate a second shift. Digitization, connectivity, cloud data and Internet of Things have been incorporated into the industrial process. The truck cabs are still being fabricated and painted at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Juiz de Fora (MG).
