BrazilScania do Brasil Ltda of São Bernardo do Campo, SP, Brazil has said it is forecasting continued market growth across all industrial areas in which it participates (trucks, buses, services and industrial, marine and power generation engines) in 2019. Positive economic growth and the formation of strong strategic partnerships with its clients are the main reasons for its projection and optimism. In 2018 Scania sold 8,643 heavy trucks (above 16t gvw), up 50.2% from 5,754 in 2017. This gave Scania a segment market share of 11.3%. However, the majority were tractor units (40t gvcw and above) with sales of 8,028 vehicles compared with 4,901 units in 2017; whereas rigid trucks accounted for 615 units, down from 853 in 2017.

Scania says its New Generation of trucks is some 12% more economical than its predecessor and that sales in just four months have exceeded 3,000 units! Roberto Barral, vice president of commercial operations, Scania in Brazil, said: “The timing of Scania in Brazil is excellent. With the New Generation, we have a new factory and so we live a New Scania in 2019. Our internal teams are in perfect harmony with the dealer network to offer the best solution to the customer,” Barral continued. “And, our journey to sustainability is moving forward.”
