India – Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd (DICV) of Oragadam, near Chennai (a subsidiary of  Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany), in response to changes in Indian permitted axle load standards*, is now making available revised axles on two of its BharatBenz trucks. As a result its 49t gvw truck model 4928T (49t gvw) becomes 5528T1 with a gross vehicle weight of 55 tons. Similarly, the 2523R (25t gvw) model rigid truck has been revised to 2823R2 (28t gvw).

Rajaram Krishnamurthy, vice-president, Marketing and Sales, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd, said: “At BharatBenz, we are proud to be the first in our industry to handover a 55-tonne truck with best-in-class gvw. Rajasthan is India’s largest tractor-trailer market, so we see great potential for this powerful workhorse. Our 28-tonne rigid is our second new model under the new axle load norms; we will upgrade all our truck models step by step.”
