Joint FC bus collaboration announced by Foton, Toyota and Beijing SinoHytec

Vehicle builders,  Beiqi Foton Motor Co Ltd (Foton) of Changping, Beijing (part of BAIC Group),  Toyota Motor Company of Seoul, South Korea and fuel cell developer, Beijing SinoHytec Co Ltd1 of Beijing have announced an agreement for all three parties to jointly develop fuel cell buses.

Foton’s first generation fuel cell buses were put into service at Beijing Olympic Games back in 2012. In 2014, it announced its second generation fuel cell buses measuring 12 metres in length greatly cut production costs and came with improved battery life span; in 2016, it won an order of 100 units fuel cell buses. In 2016, its third generation 8.5m fuel cell bus realized commercial operation. In 2018, the world’s first batch of production fuel cell city buses started operation in Zhangjiakou.
