Transport for London (TfL) has ordered 20 zero-emission double deck buses from Wrightbus of Ballymena, which are to operate on three routes (245, 7 and N7) serving the west of London from Wembley to the West End. The buses are powered by Ballard hydrogen fuel cells, Siemens’ drivetrains and battery packs.

TfL said it was investing GBP12m in the new buses. The purchase is supported by funds of more than GBP5m from the European Union and GBP1m from the Government's Office of Low Emission Vehicles.
