Carrier Transicold UK Ltd of Warrington displayed its latest Vector 19 HE (high efficiency) trailer refrigeration unit (TRU) at the CV Show last month. Seen for the first time in the UK, the new model boasts reduced fuel consumption of up to 30%, is 10% lighter and achieves a 3dB(A) reduction in noise – effectively reducing noise output by around 50%. Carrier also claims the unit offers a 15% reduction in maintenance costs.

Vector HE 19 utilises Carrier's E-Drive technology combined with a new multi-speed engine that reduces fuel consumption by 0.95 litres/hour. It also offers double the oil drain interval for further savings. Use of a fully hermetic scroll compressor is claimed to provide 40% more refrigeration capacity during pull-down and to reduce the chance of refrigerant loss by 50%. Carrier claims the unit also delivers a 19% energy reduction when plugged into a mains supply on standby.
