Swan Commercials promoting V-shaped belt driven rear discharge bodies and trailers at UK’s bulk transport show

Body and trailer builder, Swan Commercials Bodies UK Ltd of Wigan displayed its third-generation V-shaped belt-driven rear discharge body mounted on a Volvo 460 8x4 truck at Tip-Ex 2019 in Harrogate last month. The tare weight was just shy of 12,000kg, said Mike Lee, director of Swan Commercials Ltd and the payload 20,000kg at 32,000kg gvw.
Lee said the advantages of this hydraulically driven belt design over moving floor trailers was the speed of discharge of two minutes and 10 seconds, and the ability to discharge up hill. The cab driver can monitor the discharge through in-cab video monitors of images from cameras showing the interior and of the discharge area. Lee said, for rigid trucks, it was offering both a single and double belt designs; with the latter, the sides can be pushed in to ensure all the content is discharged. This V-shaped body and belt driven design is now available for trailers.
