120 Volvo-Caio low floor buses with Voith DIWA.6 transmissions for São Paulo

Brazil - Volvo Bus do Brasil Ltda of Curitiba, Paraná State, Brazil has sold 120 buses to Viação Santa Brígida for operation in Sao Paulo. The vehicles have B250R low floor chassis equipped with Voith Diwa.6 automatic transmissions and Caio Apache bodies.  The vehicle is to operate on routes in the Northwest region São Paulo city starting in the second half of the year.

The significance of the Voith Diwa.6 automatic transmission is that it is the new generation bus transmission launched in Brazil in August last year, which provides a lower frequency of gear shifts and less wear throughout the system. The new transmission is designed to improve fuel consumption and emissions. The vehicle comes with I-Coaching technology, which guides the driver on how to save fuel. It is also systems include disc brakes all round and a number of features for increase uptime such as Volvo’s ready to activate, Volvo Fleet Management system; a connectivity service that monitors each vehicle in real time and detects in advance the need for maintenance or driver training to improve driving. It is also possible to activate the Security Regions management service, which uses connectivity to automatically reduce speed near schools, hospitals and within terminals, for example.
