Scania to invest a further USD350m in operations in São Bernardo do Campo plant

Brazil - Scania do Brasil Ltda of São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil has announced it is to invest a further BRA1.4bn (USD350m) in upgrading its plant in São Bernardo do Campo, State of São Paulo, Brazil over the next three years from 2021 to 2024. With this latest announcement Scania’s capital expenditure in Brazilian operations will total BRA2.6bn (USD650m) since it started its upgrade programme in 2016.

Christopher Podgorski, president of Scania Latin America, announced BRA75m (USD19m) would be used in advance of the budgeted period (2021-24) to create a research and development centre. Podgorski also announced that most of the investment would be made in further modifications to its truck and bus plant in São Bernardo do Campo, which was totally remodelled last year for production of range of alternative fuel vehicles, starting with natural gas and biogas vehicles.
