DHL taking 700 new vehicles in strategic partnership with Volvo Trucks

UK / Germany / Sweden - DHL International (UK) Ltd of Colnbrook, UK, a logistics and supply chain specialist and part of the DHL Group (a subsidiary of Deutsche Post), has marked a new strategic partnership with Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland Ltd of Warwick, by taking delivery of the first 200 of 700 new Volvo vehicles, including 550 identical FH 6x2 tractor units. The 550 trucks feature Globetrotter XL cabs, leather seats, fridges, Drive++ Trim (top level) and 2.47:1 axle ratios all specified for driver comfort and fuel efficiency. The rest are made up of a mixture of FM and FE tractors and rigids or varying specifications which are contract specific, according to Martin Tomlinson, Volvo Trucks’ Head of Media & Product Demonstration. He added part of the order was for 25 x LNG powered trucks. (No electric trucks were included with this order).

The new vehicles meet the latest Euro-6 Step D fuel efficiency regulation while offering comprehensive driver fuel efficiency aid packages and the latest Volvo I-See predictive cruise control which utilises map-based technology. DHL are sourcing their own bodies, which are specific to whichever contract they will be operating on.
