Brazil - Eletra Industrial Ltda (Eletra¹) of São Bernardo do Campo, SP, the leading Brazilian manufacturer of electric buses, in September launched (where?) a new version of the DualBus, a 15m (correct?) series hybrid electric city bus with electric drive and combustion engine, where the engine is used as a generator to charge the batteries.

The latest generation has been further developed in response to increased legislation by cities in Brazil to curb harmful emissions and greenhouse gases. The city of São Paulo, for example, has declared that public transport vehicles must reduce their CO2 emissions by 50% over the next 10 years and by 100% in the next 20 years. The DualBus electric / hybrid bus now can run up to 25km in 100% electric mode only, without emitting any gases. The diesel or biofuel motor generator can be switched off manually by the driver or automatically when GPS detects the vehicle enters a clean air zone.
