Ecuador / Japan – Fuso, the brand name of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (a majority-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG), and Chevrolet, which is the brand name given to trucks sold in Ecuador imported from Isuzu Motors Ltd in Japan, have both announced investments upgrading their range of trucks in order to try and expand their respective market shares in the country and region.

Executives of Morisaenz SA of Quito (Ecuador), which has represented the Fuso brand in Ecuador for 30 years, in August announced the launch of a revamped truck range designed specifically, it claims, to meet the needs of Ecuadorian customer. The Morisaenz executives said the new Fuso trucks have been developed for the geographic and working conditions of the Ecuadorian market, while always addressing quality, efficiency and functionality. The new Fuso Ecuadorian truck range is made up of five models; the Canter 611, 714 and 814 light trucks and the FA 914 and 1217 medium-duty trucks. All share the same 4D34 Turbo Euro 3 intercooled 3.9-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine.
