Brazil - Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus Ltda (VWCO) of Resende, Rio de Janeiro, plans to introduce Eaton automated transmissions in its medium-duty (nine and 11 tons gvw) versions of its Delivery truck at Fenatran 2019, which takes place this month from October 14th to 18th at the Expo Center in São Paulo (SP). The 9.170 and 11.180 models are to be offered with the V-Tronic automated transmission. Commercialization was scheduled to start this month (October). Operators in Brazil are more familiar with the fitment of the V-Tronic automated gearbox, which offers much more driver comfort and economy for the fleet owner. It has been standard fitment in the VW Constellation line 420 models since 2013.

Ricardo Alouche, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and After Sales of Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, commenting on its introduction to the medium duty segment, said: “The offer of trucks of this weight category, equipped with an automated gearbox, opens a new market for the brand's vehicles. And it anticipates a trend that has already been consolidated in the extra-heavy and semi-heavy models and now reaches the lighter weight market.”
