Czech Republic / Brazil - Brazil’s Guarulhos, Sao Paulo-based wheel maker, Maxion Wheels is collaborating with ZF Openmatics sro of Pilsen, Czech Republic to develop what it claims is the industry’s first, fully-integrated wheel connectivity solution. Initially targeting the commercial vehicle market, the multi-service sensor is to capture, analyse and broadcast key data such as tyre pressure and temperature, wheel load and other wheel and tyre performance metrics to drivers, fleet managers, and infrastructure authorities.

Pieter Klinkers, chief executive officer of Maxion Wheels, said: “As a result of the unique load sensor attached to the wheel, the tyre and wheel information collected and communicated via the Smart Wheel Connectivity Solution will enable a variety of new safety and efficiency use and business cases. By partnering with ZF we combine our wheels with their intelligent sensing and telematics expertise to offer an integrated mechanical and sensing solution to help prevent potentially dangerous and costly tyre and wheel-end failures, as well as, provide drivers and fleet managers with critical vehicle performance data needed to optimise their business.”
