UK / Belgium - Mellor Coachcraft, the Rochdale-based coach building specialist, launched a new vehicle specifically designed for the Demand Responsive Transport market at Busworld Europe in Brussels last month. John Randerson, managing director, said Pico was the first in a series of products in development the company plans will address the lack of dedicated vehicles to service demand for this transport mode.

Based on Fiat Ducato 3.5t platform, the Pico is configured with a spacious eight-seat layout for passenger comfort with adequate space for wheelchair access and easy accessibility to a low floor saloon. “This new offering will be a completely new experience from Mellor and is designed to meet the demands of emerging route planning technology, together with key aspirations mapped out in the most international of future transport strategies, efficiency, flexibility and is to be as environmentally friendly as possible,” added Randerson.
