UK / China - Yutong dealer, Pelican Bus & Coach, which is the sole UK agent for buses and coaches built and supplied by Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co Ltd of Zhengzhou, Henan Province since 2103, has announced it is currently constructing of a 3,000 square foot building at its headquarters in Castleford solely to store parts for the Yutong brand. The new building is in the same grounds as the vehicle showroom (which opened about 18 months ago) and vehicle preparation centre.

Richard Crump, managing director of Pelican Bus & Coach speaking at Bus & Coach 2019 in Birmingham last month said the company was committed to Yutong and that it had signed a new import agreement in September to represent the company in the UK and Ireland until 2024. Crump said that it was looking to expand its support network around the country all the time and it was looking to add at least two additional mobile engineers to its team. Crump added that it was looking to establish a two-bay service centre in west London somewhere, which is rather tricky as industrial land in that area fetches premium prices, in order to service customers’ vehicles, which tend to be based on the west side of London. Crump stated he was hopeful of securing an order within the next 12 months for a single deck electric bus in London and this is another of the reasons why it is looking for premises.
