UK Yutong dealer Pelican sells 500th vehicle in centenary year

UK / China - Britain’s Yutong dealer, Pelican Bus & Coach of Castleford, UK has sold its 500th vehicle in its centenary year. Richard Crump, managing director of Pelican Bus & Coach speaking at Bus & Coach 2019 in Birmingham last month said the company signed its agreement with Yutong in 2013 and delivered its first vehicles in May 2014. The bulk of the vehicles sold since then, some 300 units, are 9.3m TC9 coaches with the Cummins ISB 6.7 320hp Euro VI engine and ZF 6AP1200B AT Automatic Ecolife gearbox with seating from 34 to 37 passengers with the remainder (around 150) being 12m, 51 seat TC12 coaches with the DAF MX11 400hp Euro VI engine and ZF 6AP1700B AT Automatic Ecolife gearbox. The remaining include a dozen electric buses and other coaches, including the UK’s first electric coach.
