UK - Richard Crump, managing director of Pelican Bus & Coach of Castleford, UK, the UK importer for speaking at Bus & Coach 2019 in Birmingham last month said the electric bus product had done extremely well in demonstrations and now believes that more contracts are not too far away. He said there was not a lot of difference between the electric vehicles on the UK market in terms of price, but said an advantage of its electric buses was that it was now standard on 422kWh batteries on both the E10 and the E12; which, he currently believes, is the largest battery pack on a UK bus currently.

The first electric bus deliveries are to be 14 units, E12 12m buses to Newport in February 2020 and then a further nine 10.8m E10 electric buses to Go Ahead North East in June 2020. (Both vehicles are offered at the same price since they are essentially the same model, one is just longer than the other with four more seats and Pelican is charged the same whether it's a 10 metre or 12 metre. Both have gross vehicle weights of 18 tonnes).
