UK / USA -  UK electric delivery van start-up, Arrival Ltd of Banbury, near Oxford, UK has received an order from logistics giant, UPS of Atlanta, Georgia, for 10,000 purpose-built electric vehicles. The company, which was founded by Denis Syerdlov, a Russian billionaire and former government minister, under the name of Charge, over five years ago, says it has been working with UPS for several years, having first announced a partnership in 2016.

Arrival says the initial 10,000 vehicles will be rolled out in the UK, Europe and North America over a five year period between 2020 and 2024 with the option to purchase a further order of 10,000 vehicles. As testament to its commitment to this contract, UPS, which has annual revenues of USD70bn  and employs 480,000 people worldwide, also announced its subsidiary, UPS Ventures, its venture capital arm has made an investment in Arrival of an undisclosed amount.
