Sweden - Volvo Buses of Gothenburg is to supply Nordic operator, Nobina AB, with 60 high-capacity articulated electric buses which will enter service in Malmö next year. The Volvo 7900 Electric Articulated model, which was launched in autumn 2019, can carry up to 150 passengers and is claimed to be 80% more energy-efficient than corresponding diesel models.

Nobina opted for the 18.7m version rather than the 18.0m option, and the buses are each equipped with six battery modules. The drivetrain employs dual 200kW Volvo I-SAM electric motors and a two-speed transmission, this produces 31kNM of torque at the driven axle. Deliveries will commence in January 2021 and are expected to be completed by April the same year. They will operate on route 5 and 7 in Malmö. The batteries can be quick-charged via OppCharge stations located on the bus route in Malmö or charged in the depot using Combo2/CCS charge stations.
