Europe - The heavy truck (HCV ≥16t gvw/gcw) market in the European Union (EU27) plus EFTA (3) countries has grown five straight years in a row to total 321,785 units in 2019, according to figures collated by ACEA (The European Automobile Manufacturers Association based in Brussels). This was also the second year in a row when totals exceeded the previous record high in 2007 of 313,532 units, the boom year ahead of the global financial crash.

The five year growth of the market overall was mirrored in four of the top five largest markets of Germany, France, UK, and Italy; Poland in fourth spot ahead of Italy saw its registration fall from 27,445 to 25,418 units in terms of total volumes. Germany remains the largest truck market accounting for more than 20% of total heavy truck sales.
