UK - Arcola Energy Ltd of London, a system engineering company and Tier 1 supplier of zero-emission technologies for heavy-duty vehicles is expanding its manufacturing footprint in the UK. On the announcement last month of its partnership with UK bus builder, Optare Plc, where it announced its hydrogen and fuel cell drive systems would be built at its existing manufacturing facility Liverpool, it also said they would be built at a second facility, which in under construction but is ‘well advanced’ at the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc in Dundee, Scotland.

This expansion comes shortly after expansion of its Liverpool operations, involving the  move to 15,000 sq. ft. newly-built premises to house the company’s manufacturing, installation and maintenance facility. It has the capability to build, install and service hundreds of zero-emission vehicle powertrain systems. The facility gives it the option to expand production of both the battery and hydrogen fuel cell electric drivetrain systems to thousands of systems per year. At the same time as the Liverpool move, it said it would be upgrading existing powertrain development facilities in Hackney, London.
