Marcopolo’s innovation partnership division, Marcopolo Next focusses on biosafety systems

Brazil – Following the formation of Marcopolo Next, a new division of bus and coach body builder, Marcopolo SA of Caxais do Sul, set up at the start of the year to work start-up companies to develop new technologies, the company says its focus has been on developing biosafety solutions to make public transport safer from viral contamination.
Subsequently, Marcopolo Next in April launched innovation challenges and looked for start-ups and technologies specialized in biosafety. Project selection was conducted by a multi-disciplinary technical group of air borne and contact virus and bacterial infection specialists, engineers, and other personnel from Marcopolo to evaluate concepts suitable for application on buses and their potential to be scalable for distribution across the industry.
