Sweden – As of September 1, 2020, Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection AB of Tyresö, Sweden is bringing to market Li-IonFire, the name given to a new early warning detection and suppression system developed specifically for EV and HEV operating on lithium ion battery technology.

Li-IonFire is the result of an EU-funded project* in conjunction with RISE (Research Institute of Sweden) of Gothenburg, Sweden, to develop the means to detect potential failure, overheating and fire risk in lithium-ion batteries in vehicles at an early stage. The development team at Dafo subsequently developed and built an automated electric vehicle Lithium Ion battery early warning and fire suppression system.
