USA / Japan - The Allison T 280 fully automatic transmission from Allison Transmissions Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, has been selected as standard equipment for all new medium-sized city buses manufactured by J-Bus Ltd* of Komatsu, Japan.

Allison claims its automatic transmissions are currently installed in more than 10,000 large city buses in Japan, representing a 75% share of the market. The Allison T 280 six-speed automatic transmission, installed primarily in large city buses, has now been optimised for medium-sized city buses, making the Isuzu ERGA Mio (9m) and Hino Rainbow (9m) medium-duty city buses fully compliant with Japan’s 2015 heavy-duty fuel efficiency standards alongside the Isuzu ERGA and Hino Blue Ribbon (large- 12m) transit bus models.
