Harsh offers operator versatility with hook-loading skip-loader

UK - British engineering firm, Harsh Ltd of Full Sutton, York, well known for its hook-loader and skip-loader body products, has built a bespoke demountable skip-loader unit that can be loaded onto a truck fitted already with a standard hook-loader container, enabling it to double as a skip carrier, when needed. The hydraulics to operate the skip-loader are then connected simply into the truck’s existing system with the whole process taking less than six minutes.

The development came at the request of refuse recycler, May Glass Recycling Ltd of Rainham. The operator says it now has a vehicle (a 5-year old 6x2 Volvo FM fitted with conventional hook-loader bodywork) that doubles as a hook-loader and as a skip-loader and one that is capable of 26t solo or 44t drawbar operation.
