Germany / UK - Following a multi-million GBP investment, trailer technology provider, BPW Ltd of Leicester, UK – a subsidiary of BPW Bergische Achsen KG of Wiehl, Germany – says it has now completed the first phase of its expansion plan by introducing an axle assembly line at its site in Leicester and stating that its axles for the UK market will now be engineered in Germany but built in Britain. Having assembled more than 250,000 suspensions for axles in the UK over the last 10 years, the investment is expected to increase the manufacturing scope and scale of its UK operation significantly.

With the first axles produced in September 2020, the new assembly line, with its fully trained production team, allows BPW UK greater flexibility in terms of specific axle requirements, and reduces risks of cross border supply after the Brexit transition period. Until now the UK’s axles have been assembled in the company’s production sites in mainland Europe.
